‘Guzaarish’ is most likely to end up losing around 40 crores. A budget in which two movies like ‘Guzaarish’ could have easily been made. A movie which has received accolades, being termed as a classic, well promoted, shocks everyone by opening with a poor 30% to 40% response.

What’s the reason, well it’s not the content which has worked against the flick it’s the cost at which the content has being brought to the audience has worked against the film. The total cost of ‘Guzaarish’ including print, publicity, and marketing was a whooping 85 crores.

SRK biggie ‘Om Shanti Om’ an out and out commercial which had the King Khan in a double role was sold around the same price… So what justifies such a price for a film which is a sensible, good cinema which doesn’t attract the regular audience and most of the movie is shot in indoors.

Take a look at the pricing and you will be surprised to see how wrong UTV has gone in its capacity as a producer.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali was paid 27 crores as remuneration.

Hrithik Roshan took 15 crores (for his last hit Jodhaa Akbar, Hrithik was paid less than 5 by the same UTV) Aishwarya was paid 5 crores.

That’s comes to 47 crores… a cost where two ‘Break Ke Baad’ can be easily done with publicity and you will be still be left with a couple of crores.

A major miscalculation...
